“Any man can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a Dad” - and once a day every year, there is a special day set aside to honor and thank that special man in our lives. While it is true that every day should be a day where we never take our dear fathers for granted, why not go the extra mile this year to make Father’s Day extra special for your Daddy?
That’s right - instead of taking Daddy out, why not prepare a delicious, home-cooked but restaurant standard meal at home? Rather than an expensive gift, why not handcraft something for him to keep and remember forever? And nothing says love and sincerity like a wonderful, handwritten card instead of one bought from the store. It sounds like a daunting task, but let us break it down for you. Here are four great Father’s Day ideas you might want to consider to make things extra special this year for that hero in your life!
Idea Two: A Craft and Card Just for Dad
What about a one of a kind Father’s Day craft for your children’s father to keep on his desk and smile at every time he’s having a tough day? Handmade crafts are easy to make, let your children feel like they have created something special and unique for their Daddies, and are bound to warm your husband’s heart.
Some craft ideas we suggest are a handmade paper crown just for Daddy to wear at home for his special day, or handmade painted pasta photo frames to hold adorable snaps of you and the kids. From pop-up cards to simple folded cards with little handprints, they are all adorable and make lovely Father’s Day presents.
Another cute idea to make your father or husband smile are hand-printed “vouchers”, which Daddy can use to claim little things like “big hugs”, or “free car wash” or even “no housework day”.
Idea Three: Go on an Adventure
This Father’s Day, why not spice it up and bring Dad somewhere completely out of his comfort zone? We suggest going on a hike through a beautiful nature reserve, or maybe even a camping trip for the more outdoorsy Dad. Keep to the natural theme and switch off all electronic communications devices once your adventure begins! Although the rule of thumb is to pack lightly, it’s always better to bring along more water. And don’t leave behind essentials like sunscreens, insect repellants and walking sticks – having these items on hand will make trip all the more comfortable, and enjoyable.
Even if your dad is not of the athletic sort, a lovely long morning walk where the two of you can catch up with each other is the perfect start to a meaningful Father’s Day - all that fresh air, sunshine and quality time is definitely good for the soul. If the weather permits, you can even pack up a nice basket of sandwiches and cold coffee for a picnic brunch at the fields!
