Chef Sachie Nomura shares what surprised and impressed her about having Bosch appliances in her kitchen after having used Bosch technology extensively during Sachie's Kitchen Series 2.
I was so inspired by experiencing Bosch appliances, that I have completely fitted out my own kitchen at home. It's incredible how technology came to make our lives so much easier. People can of course cook with gas or electric or induction elements, or ovens from old to new - what makes the Bosch technology special, is that it makes my life a lot easier. The oven is incredible technology with all the smart inbuilt functions.
With my Bosch Series 8 oven, I feel like there is a sous chef inhouse. For example, making a roast lamb you can stick the meat probe in the leg, connect it to the oven, tell the oven what temperature you want the meat to be, and it will deliver. You can depend on your appliances to be precise, with the temperature, timing, and all the elements to make a perfect cook.
With an ordinary oven there is a lot of uncertainty, you’re always nervous when you slice the meat. When you tell your oven you want 68 degrees inside, this is what you’ll get. This certainty lets you enjoy cooking more.
If you have guests over for dinner, there is no anxiety around cooking for others. I feel it too - especially cooking European style...what if the meat is undercooked or too tough? With my new Bosch oven I can chat away with friends or family, and you can rely on your sous chef (the oven) that will take care of it (without talking back!)
Rice is an everyday staple in my family and an important ingredient to me, sometimes I say “my body is made of rice!” Just like pakeha eat bread everyday, we eat rice. I am very particular with the rice that I use and the way I cook it. I never thought of cooking rice in the oven, and it proved me wrong that a steam oven can cook rice. I was surprised and happy with the outcome of the cook. With a stove having to do all the steaming and everything on the cooktop, you run out of space, but with a smart oven with steam inbuilt, you can actually steam in the oven.
Particularly in a small kitchen, it can get crowded so quickly with pots and pans. You can add steam even while grilling in the oven, which keeps the moisture in the food while creating a crispy outside. For example my sausage rolls, it cooks the perfect pastry.
You don't need a lot of gadgets or appliances when you can have just one with a lot of functions. I love the microwave integrated oven, one appliance does two functions. I don't like a cluttered kitchen, and space wise, these appliances are well thought out.
The induction cooktop has a temperature control function where you can hold temperature. This is great for deep frying, stewing, and braising. It’s so easy to control temperature, it heats up or cools down very quickly. I love the combined zone, so you can adjust the cooking element to the size of your pot or pan, making cooking large dishes so much easier. I love using the Bosch flexi pans (like I used to make spaghetti meatballs) especially to cook for a big family or guests, you don't need to do batches, you can do it all in one. The design utilises the full space of the element which is max capacity. This design makes life so much easier
The integrated ventilation aspect of the induction cooktop is another great combined technology. It gives the option of clear space above your head - if you don't want to have a rangehood overtop in a small kitchen, or to have minimalist style, it's a great option.
At home, I got a full kitchen makeover to include Bosch appliances. I have the Series 8 Built-in oven with steam, Series 8 80cm induction cooktop, stainless steel integrated rangehood, fridge freezer and dishwasher. I love the space efficiency and slick appearance, but more than anything the functionality and delivery to make my life easier to cook food. I have a sous chef oven to do the job!
